You may have heard of the more common plants, the plants that are best for beginners, or the plants that are usually sold at your local hardware store.

But what are some of the more unusual plants? What are the unique, weird, beautiful, fun plants that not many people have?

Below is a list of the most unusual and cool plants around.

1. Monkey Face Orchids

Pretty amazing right?! This colorful and whimsical orchid is best known for its monkey shaped flower. The scientific name is Dracula similar but can often be called a Monkey Face Orchid. If you can get your hands on one, transfer it to a pretty ceramic pot and put it front and center for house guests to gawk at.

2. Onzuka Plant

These plants are not common; they look so unusual that adding them to your home can draw eyes to them. Must check out!

This blooming cutie is the perfect addition to add to an already plant-filled shelf! It’s full of bright snowy white dots that tend to change overtime, but best of all, it’s easy to take care of and needs fairly little water! If you can’t find the Onzuka at your local nursery, try starting it from a seed. Just remember, the seedlings are not a fan of strong light or dry conditions.

3. Madagascar Palm

This quirky (but cute!) plant is one I see a lot in landscapes here in California. The Madagascar Palm has a tall gray trunk and is FULL of prickly and spikey thorns, with leaves that grow towards the top. If placed in the right conditions (full sun light), it can be a fun house plant to add to your plant family. Quick tip, it does not tolerate freeze very well.
